CAPRI's CARDIAC PROGRAMS

Our Vision

“STRIVING TO ACHIEVE OPTIMAL HEART AND LUNG HEALTH IN OUR COMMUNITY”

Cardiac Rehabilitation is a physician referred program. It can help you decrease symptoms such as chest pain and shortness of breath; improve endurance and strength; reduce stress; and reduce the risk of future heart problems and related hospital admissions.

You can benefit from cardiac rehab. if you have recently had heart surgery, angioplasty, stenting, heart attack, heart transplant, heart disease, heart failure, mitral valve replacement or reconstruction, or stable angina.

Upon your physician’s referral, you will be evaluated by the program nurse and exercise specialist to determine your current level of abilities. We will work with you to design an individualized program to meet your needs. Cardiac Rehabilitation sessions are 1 ½ hours, meeting three times a week. Most of our patients start rehab just a few weeks out of the hospital.

Our cardiac programs are offered at all three sites around the Kitsap Peninsula.

The initial appointment is in our Business office:
Bremerton
2601 Cherry Ave, Suite 111
Bremerton, WA 98310
360-479-3886

Then you can choose to attend the Bremerton site at the same address or Poulsbo at the:
Liberty Bay Building
20201 NE Front St
Poulsbo, WA 98370
360-697-2581

or Port Orchard:
Cedar Heights Professional Building
1950 Pottery Ave, Suite 10
Port Orchard, WA 98366
360-876-8566

During your thirty-six sessions, you will be followed by a dedicated group of healthcare professionals who coordinate your rehabilitation with your referring physician. You will be monitored with a EKG unit while exercising and the nurse and Exercise Specialist will also monitor your vital signs. In addition to your exercise regime is education. We will inform you about your illness and help you understand the symptoms of the disease along with nutrition and dietary changes, other diseases that may be linked such as diabetes, pharmaceutical information and other various changes needed in your lifestyle to keep you healthy and strong.

CAPRI’s Cardiac Rehab has many success stories. Just ask Gary:

Gary was a slim, relatively healthy 65 year old male with healthy blood pressure, low cholesterol but a moderate smoker. Gary thought he was experiencing indigestion but his physician suspected angina. During his stress test in the doctor’s office, Gary had a cardiac crisis on the treadmill. After undergoing a 5- way bypass and coming face to face with death, Gary then had the long road to recovery ahead of him.

I had the good fortune to be referred to CAPRI for cardiac rehab. When I began rehab, I was a 127 lb bag of bones and had difficulty walking from the parking lot to the CAPRI office for my first visit. Now, a few months later, I am feeling better than I have in a decade. I can do 30 minutes of aerobics, weight training with 10 lb dumbbells and have gained 15 lbs of muscle. I am now ready for the ‘Mr. Senior Citizen’ contest!”

Gary is such an inspiration that he now works part time for CAPRI, inspiring other patients with his determination and positive outlook on life.
